Caroline Loe is a PhD candidate in the SC3 team at the Delft University of Technology. She holds an MSc in Environmental Sciences with a specialization in Environmental Economics from Wageningen University & Research, and a BSc in Food Science and Technology (awarded Cum Laude) from Oregon State University. Caroline began her career in R&D developing sustainable food and packaging, but eventually shifted her focus to broader, systemic climate challenges. For her master’s thesis, she built a socio-cognitive agent-based model to simulate solar panel adoption in Amsterdam.
Currently, as part of the ERC-SPHINX project, Caroline’s research focuses on the macroeconomic risks of climate disasters. She builds models to study how local physical damage, taxpayer dynamics, and local budget constraints cascade into systemic economic crises, and how government decisions across different scales are affected by, and in turn amplify or dampen, these risks.
In her free time, Caroline likes to hang out with friends, spend time outdoors, visit museums, try random new activities, and do pilates or yoga.
